What do we know about our brothers? Polish-Hungarian friendship today.

The saying claiming that Poles and Hungarians are good friends, or even brothers, is widely known in both nations. It results from centuries of shared history and dates back to the 18th century. However, it may seem nowadays that the awareness of this unique bond the two countries have shared for such a long time is diminishing. The paper presents results of a questionnaire survey of Polish and Hungarian students regarding their attitudes towards, image of and knowledge about Hungary and Poland respectively. Extended versions of each questionnaire were distributed among Hungarian exchange students in Poland  and Polish exchange students in Hungary. The main question that this study addresses is whether, and in what way or to what degree, young people in Poland and Hungary are aware of and influenced by this unique heritage of international friendship.
